Psalm 63

When life falls apart, most of us reach for something familiar to cope. Psalm 63 was written by David while he was fleeing for his life in the wilderness of Judah, hunted by his own son, and yet his deepest cry was not for rescue but for God Himself. David declared that God's steadfast love is better than life, and he found genuine satisfaction in God's presence even before his circumstances changed. The wilderness has a way of revealing what we are truly trusting in. The most important question is not when our desert will end, but what we desire most while we are in it. Sometimes God does not change our circumstances. Sometimes He changes our appetite in the middle of them, and that is its own kind of miracle.
