Psalm 62

True rest is not found on the other side of your next achievement, diagnosis, or life milestone. Psalm 62 reveals that the rest we are all chasing can only be found in God alone. David shows us how to anchor ourselves in what we know to be true before the storms arrive, not after we are already overwhelmed. He also models the practice of preaching truth to our own souls when our feelings pull us in a different direction. We are not meant to fight for rest on our own. God calls us into community so that others can point us back to the rock when circumstances are pulling us away from it. Whatever you have been trusting alongside God, whether financial security, health, relationships, or control, none of it will hold when the world begins to shake. Only Christ can be the rock, stronghold, and salvation that our souls are truly longing for.
