Jesus's encounter with the woman at the well demonstrates how to bring people from the margins into focus through genuine conversation. Rather than avoiding Samaria like other Jews, Jesus intentionally went there because his clear sense of purpose directed his path. He didn't rush to present the gospel but instead drew out her story through careful questions and active listening. By asking over 300 questions throughout the Gospels, Jesus modeled how to foster curiosity rather than immediately trying to fix or correct. We can follow this example by asking the next question in our conversations, listening to understand rather than just respond, and connecting people's stories to the hope of the gospel through authentic relationships.
